Samuel H. ‘Sam’ Alspaugh Sr., 78, of Williamsburg, peacefully passed away with family at his side on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, to join his loving wife of 59 years, Shirley, in heaven.
Born on November 27, 1937, in Richmond, he retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1975 after 20 years of service. After retiring from civil service at Cheatham Annex, Sam became an avid coin collector. He loved researching his family’s history, working with his hands and helping family and friends.
Sam will be remembered as a great father, grandfather and friend. He leaves cherished memories to his children, Sam Jr. (Dorrie), Dahlene, Rebecca, Dori (Mike) and Amanda (Brian); and 11 grandchildren.
A private service has been planned.
