Jamestown was unable to slow down Smithfield’s offense during a 5-2 road loss on Wednesday.

The Packers scored two goals over a two-minute span in the first half to take a 2-0 lead over Jamestown.

Antonio Gonzalez put Jamestown on the board in the 29th minute with a goal, which was followed in the 35th minute by Carson Smith’s goal.

Jamestown’s two goals helped the Eagles take the game into halftime tied at 2-2.

While Gonzalez helped Jamestown in the first half, he put the Eagles in a hole after drawing a red card early in the second half. The foul led to a penalty kick, which was scored by Smithfield’s Parker Caterbone.

With Smithfield leading 3-2, Caterbone scored goals in the 67th and 77th minutes to log a hat trick and put the game out of reach.

Jamestown (4-5-1) will try to rebound on the road against Nansemond-River on Thursday.
