Grafton’s offense put together its best performance of the season on Wednesday as the Clippers defeated Heritage 13-2 at home.

Justin Bowers led Grafton with 4 RBIs, while DJ Dobbins drove in a pair of runs.

The Clippers put up four runs in the bottom of the first inning before tacking on an additional run in the second inning.

With a 5-2 lead, Grafton added six runs in the bottom of the third inning to blow the game open.

Two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning allowed Grafton to end the game in five innings because of the Virginia High School League’s 10-run rule.

Grafton (3-8) is now on its multi-game win streak this season with back-to-back wins. The Clippers will face a quick turnaround with a road game against New Kent on Thursday.

Walsingham Uses Big Eighth Inning to Down Bishop Sullivan

Walsingham Academy scored eight runs in the top of the eighth inning to defeat Bishop Sullivan 9-3 on the road Wednesday.

With the game tied at 1-1 at the end of the seventh inning, Walsingham exploded in the eighth inning to put the game out of reach.

JJ Burns opened the scoring in the inning with an RBI single. James West then came up to bat and hit an RBI single of his own.

Leading 3-1, Jason Covaney and Zack Tomek drove in runs on back-to-back plate appearances. Tanner Schobel then reached base on a fielder’s choice and scored another run.

Beau LeJeune kept the momentum going with a two-run double to center field. Tredell Blow capped the scoring with an RBI sacrifice fly.

Bishop Sullivan logged two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, but were unable to completely close the gap.

Walsingham (13-7) will close its regular season at home against Southampton Academy on Friday.
