Debra Roob Costello, of Williamsburg, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2016, at the age of 53.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William N. Roob and Joan P. Roob of Yorktown; and brothers, William M. Roob and Ronald G. Roob of Williamsburg.
She was a graduate of Tabb High School; obtained a BBA degree from James Madison University and an MBA from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. She completed Aviation Officer Candidate School in the U.S. Navy. As a commissioned officer, she attended Navy Flight School and became a Naval aviator. Serving in the Persian Gulf War during her 12-year career, she was proud of the multiple decorations she received. Her love for flying led her to a career as a pilot for UPS.
A devout member of St. Olaf Catholic Church, Debra sang in the choir and studied her faith. She enjoyed being a Girl Scout leader, bird-watching, gardening, travel, scuba diving and music of all genres. Most of all, she loved spending time with Pat, her husband of 28 years. She was great at anchoring her family.
Survivors include her husband, Patrick L. Costello; brothers, Daniel A. Roob (Anna) and Richard A. Roob; and 11 nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at St. Olaf Catholic Church, 104 Norge Lane, Williamsburg, preceded by a rosary service at 12:30 p.m. Interment will be held at a later date.
