Betty Hughes ‘Tomiko Takagi’ resident of Williamsburg for more than 30 years, died Monday, May 2, 2016 at Williamsburg Hospice House.

She was born in Japan in 1927. Surviving two wars, she was a proud Japanese woman. Mrs. Hughes married two servicemen in her lifetime and lived to the blessed age of 89.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Hughes.

Mrs. Hughes is survived by her sons, Tom and Nelson Shrewsbury; and grandson, Tommy Shrewsbury.

A private service will be held at a later date.

The family would like to offer their thanks to Hospice House & Support Care of Williamsburg for the loving care they provided.
