Loraine Whitener Chapman heard the call of her Savior to come home on Wednesday, April 27, 2016.
She was born in Clinton, S.C., to the late Harrison and Elizabeth Beasley Whitener Sr.
She attended Clinton public schools; Myers Park High School in Charlotte, N.C.; Thomas Nelson Community College (AAS in nursing); Norfolk State University (B.S. in nursing); and Hampton University (M.S. in nursing). She was a veteran who served for seven and a half years in the U.S. Women’s Army Corps and U.S. Army. She worked for Grafton Integrated Health Network as the nurse manager at Grafton’s Richmond campus and director of nursing.
Those cherishing her fond memories are her husband of 40 years, Robert M. Chapman of the home; one brother, Harrison Whitener Jr. of Clinton, S.C.; two sisters, Virginia (Willie) Gary of Clinton, S.C., and Gloria (Grady) Boyd of Spartanburg, S.C.; devoted niece, Sharon Richards of Anderson, S.C., and Michelle R. McMorris of Clinton, S.C.; special friend, Catrena (Neal) Lee of El Paso, Texas; and stepdaughter, Antoinette (Wendell) Hunt of Hampton.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, at Bucktrout of Williamsburg, 4124 Ironbound Road, Williamsburg.
The family asks that expressions of love be in the form of donations to Grafton Integrated Health Network.
