Jamestown scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning as the Eagles avenged an early-season loss to Lafayette on Friday.

Behind a strong pitching performance by Kent Klyman, who fanned 14 batters while allowing two earned runs, Jamestown took down Lafayette 4-2 on the road.

Jamestown’s Andrew Barrow opened the scoring in the top of the second inning with an RBI single to left field.

After Barrow’s RBI, both teams were unable to plate runs until Lafayette responded in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Lafayette’s Gabe Bono delivered an RBI single into left field that scored Luc Lipcius and tied the game at 1-1.

The Eagles responded in a big way in the top of the eighth inning as Evan Lowery gave Jamestown a 2-1 lead after hitting an RBI single into center field.

Two at bats later, Michael Schmidt reached base on an error. While Schmidt reached first base, two runs were able to cross home plate as the Eagles took a 4-1 advantage.

Andre Lipcius tried to bring Lafayette back in the bottom of the eighth inning with an RBI single, but the Rams were unable to send the game into the ninth inning in the loss.

Jamestown (12-1) has now won 11 consecutive games and will look to continue that streak at home against Tabb on Monday.

Meanwhile, Lafayette (9-3) will try to snap a two-game losing streak on the road against Grassfield on Saturday.
