Ira D. Stewart Jr., 38, departed this life on Sunday, April 24, 2016, after a brief stay at The Hospice House and Support Care of Williamsburg. He courageously battled colon cancer for the past two years.
Ira was born on February 16, 1978, the son of Ira D Stewart Sr., and his wife, Alma Jean Harris, in Las Vegas, Nev. He graduated from Christopher Newport University in Newport News. Ira worked in various capacities in the hospitality industry including Kingsmill Resort, Great Wolf Lodge and the Williamsburg Hospitality House.
On September 11, 2010, Ira married the former Christine Groth. To this union one son, Greyson, was born on February 24, 2014. He was a baptized member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Yorktown.
Ira was preceded in death by his mother, Alma Crawford.
Ira leaves to cherish his fond memories his wife, Christine Stewart; sons, Greyson Stewart and Christopher Guerin; daughter, Madyson Stewart; father, Ira D Stewart Sr.; brothers, Joshuwa Stewart and David Stewart; sisters, Regnetta Furst and Latrira Sarapo; and a host of other relatives, family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mr. Stewart may be viewed from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 28, at Whiting’s Funeral Home. A service celebrating the life Ira lived will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 29, at Whiting’s Chapel. Family and friends will assemble by 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment to follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park.
