Jamestown came up just short during a 6-5 loss at home to New Kent on Wednesday.
After allowing a run to New Kent in the top of the second inning, Jamestown responded with four runs in the bottom of the third.
Starting the scoring for the Eagles was Madalyn Morton, who scored on a New Kent fielding error. Later that inning, Molly Lee hit an RBI single that gave Jamestown a 2-1 lead.
Arianna Reynolds smacked an RBI double in the bottom of the third, which was followed by Kailey Smith scoring on the next play.
Jamestown’s lead grew to its biggest margin in the bottom of the fourth as Lee drove in a run while grounding out to the shortstop.
New Kent responded with four runs in the top of the fifth inning to tie the game up. The Trojans later scored the game-winning run in the top of the sixth.
Jamestown (4-8) will try to rebound on the road against Lafayette on Friday.
