Lafayette earned its first sweep of an opponent in more than a month on Monday as the Rams dismantled Woodside 9-0 at home.

The Rams were able to easily cruise past Woodside, which had to replace many starters from last year's conference championship team.

Five of Lafayette's six singles players were able to finish their matches in less than an hour.

Lafayette's No. 2 Haley Quarles, No. 3 Robin Rosewelsh, No. 4 Abby Johnson and No. 6 Maggie Dwyer all finished their matches in less than 50 minutes.

Ten minutes later, approaching the one-hour mark, Lafayette's top singles player Tawni Hatcher capped her 6-3, 6-0 win against Woodside's No. 1 Tianna Johnson.

The final singles match to conclude was at No. 5, where Lafayette's Ellie Klee was competing in her first varsity tennis match against Woodside's Tiffany Johnson.

Klee, who displayed some traditional rookie mistakes like confusing serving sides and calling shots out of play, managed to overcome her inexperience to win her match 6-3, 6-1 in 1 1/2 hours.

With the overall match secured after sweeping all six singles matches, the Rams cruised through doubles play, dropping just one game through all three wins.

Lafayette (5-2) will look to extend its winning streak to three matches as the Rams host Poquoson on Wednesday.

The Panthers split singles play with the Lions, as Warhill won at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 singles.

With the match tied at 3-3 heading into doubles, Bruton managed to win at No. 1 and No. 3 to claim the overall match victory.
