Wallace Coleman ‘Shucks’ Green, 71, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2016.
Shucks was a native and lifelong resident of York County.
He retired from civil service as an environmental inspector in 2005. In his youth, he was a barber with his brother, Peter, at Green’s Barber Shop. He was also employed at Amory Funeral home for several years. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, June, and playing with his granddaughters, Isabella and Madilynn. Shucks did a lot for his community, church and friends and was always willing to help a friend.
Shucks was preceded in death by his parents, Coleman and Beulah Green; and his brother, Billy Green.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, June Green; son, Wallace C. Green Jr.; daughter, Rebecca Huggett; granddaughters, Isabella and Madilynn Speakman; brother, Peter Green, and his wife, Betty; two nephews, Frank and Steve (Tina) Green; sister-in-law, Frances Green; and a very large, extended family and a host of dear and loving friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, at Providence United Methodist Church with the Rev. C. Douglas Akers officiating. Interment will follow in Providence Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26, at Amory Funeral Home, Grafton, and at a reception in the church social hall following the funeral services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Providence United Methodist Church, 113 Old Dare Road, Yorktown, VA 23692.
