Jamestown kept its win streak alive on Thursday, edging past Lafayette 5-4 on the road.

The Eagles faced a tough challenge from the Rams in singles play. While the Eagles won No. 1, No. 4 and No 6 singles, the Rams took victories at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5.

With the match tied, Jamestown earned wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to secure the overall match victory.

Jamestown (4-3) will look to extend its win streak to five matches during a road match against Warhill on Tuesday. Lafayette (3-1) will visit York on the same day.

Bruton Sweeps New Kent

Bruton earned its second win of the season on Thursday, beating New Kent 9-0 on the road in a match that was more hard-fought than the final score indicates.

Despite the Panthers winning every match in singles and doubles, many of the sets were played very closely and could have gone either way.

Bruton (2-3) will look to move its win streak to two matches at home against Smithfield on Monday.

York’s girls tennis team remained unbeaten on the season Thursday as the Falcons defeated Poquoson 9-0 on the road.

The Falcons controlled every match, with no set being decided by fewer than three games.

York (3-0) will look to remain perfect on the season next Tuesday at home against Lafayette.
