Simone Marcelle Jodlowski, 86, of Williamsburg, died on Monday, April 11, 2016.

She was born in Epinal, France, and was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Jodlowski.

While she and her husband never had children, she was a mother and grandmother figure to many. She was an accomplished seamstress and made bridal gowns for military officers’ daughters. She was also a fabulous French cook. As a military wife, she traveled the world throughout her husband’s career. She survived the German occupation of France during World War II. She also had many family members who still reside in Europe.

A visitation will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, April 29, with a memorial service following at 5 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg. Burial will be held at a later day in Arlington National Cemetery.

Her spirit now returns to France, the place she called home.
