College Watch: Standout Historic Triangle Alumni, April 4-10

Bridgewater College senior and Lafayette alumna Marin Warring was named Old Dominion Athletic Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for the second time this spring.

Warring earned the distinction after beating defending ODAC Player of the Year and All-American Mary-Frances Hall.

Other Historic Triangle athletes had standout performances in baseball, softball and golf.

Baseball

  • William Peace University junior Tyler Klinedinst (Warhill) went 2-for-4 with a run scored during an April 6 loss to Guilford.
  • Ferrum College junior Lane Deaver (Grafton) went 3-for-5 with two runs scored in an April 6 win against Eastern Mennonite.

Golf

  • Bridgewater College senior Marin Warring (Lafayette) was named Old Dominion Athletic Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week after defeating All-American Mary-Frances Hall of Washignton & Lee head-to-head.

Softball

  • Louisburg College freshman DaSha Hill (Bruton) went 2-for-4 with three runs scored during an April 6 win against Pitt Community College.
  • Elon University sophomore Hannah Olson (Grafton) posted two hits and an RBI during an April 9 loss to Hofstra. Olson also went 2-for-4 with three runs scored during an April 9 win against Hofstra.
  • Christopher Newport University junior Tara Heatwole (Jamestown) threw five innings and allowed two earned runs during an April 6 win against Meredith College. She also recorded her 12th win of the season on April 9 against Southern Virginia University.
  • Lynchburg College junior Kayla St. John (Tabb) went 2-for-3 with three runs scored during an April 6 rout of Ferrum College.
