Dream Catchers at the Cori Sikich Therapeutic Riding Center recently brought in more than $19,000 at the fourth annual Catch a Dream Campaign & Horse Show.
Students, staff and volunteers recruited teams to generate donations during the campaign leading up to the show, which took place on March 6.
The winning student team was “Team Robot” led by the Hostetter Family. Advanced instructor Sally Derrig led the winning staff/volunteer team, “Team Blackie’s Babes,” which was named after Derrig’s 32-year-old Quarter Horse.
Profits from the event help Dream Catchers offer its programs of therapeutic horsemanship to individuals with special needs for the lowest possible lesson fees.
In addition to the title sponsor BedCrafters by Michelle, which donated $2,000 to the organization, other sponsors included Innovative Homes of Virginia and Pierce’s PITT Bar-B-Que, the latter of which sponsored the buffet lunch and a scholarship giving one lucky student a free 10-week session.
