Lisa O. Rogers, 57, answered the Master’s call on Thursday, March 31, 2016. Her life began on February 1, 1959, the second daughter of Rosa and Samuel Jones Jr.
At an early age, she accepted Christ into her life and joined St. John Baptist Church, Toano. She was educated in the Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools.
She was preceded in death by her son, Denzel.
She leaves to cherish her blessed memories her daughter, Tona; grandchildren, Karizona, Kalil, Kailani and Nyasia; parents, Rosa and Samuel Jones Jr.; sisters, Linda Hankins (the Rev. Ronnie), Angela Youssef, Pamela Jones, Alvene Jones, Zina Cook (Gerald), Joy Jackson and Sandra Jackson (Morris); her brothers, Samuel ‘Spoon’ Jones (Alice), Kirk Jones, James Mason and Leon Simpson (Cindy); nine aunts, three uncles, great-aunt and great-uncle; and many other loving relatives and caring friends.
Mrs. Rogers may be viewed from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, at Whiting’s Funeral Home, 7005 Pocahontas Trail, Williamsburg. A celebration of her life will be held at noon Thursday, April 7, at St. John Baptist Church with the Rev. Reggie Berkley officiating. Family and friends will assemble by 11 a.m. prior to the service at 113 Orange Drive.
