Michael J. Fox, a 17-year member of the Greater Williamsburg Chamber & Tourism Alliance’s Board of Directors, has been recognized for his “longevity and caliber” of service with a proclamation from the Alliance.
Fox, the assistant to the president and secretary to the Board of Visitors for the College of William & Mary, served as chairman of the GWCTA Board in 2003 and 2004. He is a recipient of the Roll of the Drum Award, the Alliance’s highest honor, for his service to the community.
He is a former chairman of the Williamsburg Regional Library Board of Trustees and has served on the boards of Walsingham Academy, Old Point National Bank, the United Way of Williamsburg and the Williamsburg Community Foundation.
Karen Riordan, president and CEO of the Alliance, called Fox a “pretty outstanding human being” in the Greater Williamsburg area.
“He’s just been a titan in the community and a great link between William & Mary and the business community, which we think is really important,” Riordan said. “We just felt like this was the least we could do to say thank you to him for all of those years of service.”
Fox no longer serves on the Board of Directors and has been replaced by Julie Summs, the director of economic development and business innovation at William & Mary.
