Jamestown posted seven runs in the fourth inning to defeat Bruton 7-3 on the road Thursday afternoon.

Bruton opened the game with a run in the bottom of the first inning, giving the Panthers a 1-0 lead that held until the fourth inning.

Jamestown opened the fourth inning with an RBI single by Samantha Lee that tied the game at 1-1. During the play, Tara Rowden was able to steal home plate on an error by Bruton.

Later in the inning, Madison Maharty reached base on a fielding error, while Lee scored and put Jamestown up 3-2. Maharty later scored on an error to put the Eagles on top 4-2.

Kailey Smith kept the rally going with a two-run double, which was immediately followed by Arianna Reynolds hitting an RBI double for Jamestown’s final run of the game.

The Panthers responded with two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit.

Jamestown (3-4) will visit Smithfield on April 12, while Bruton (1-6) will host Lafayette on April 15.

York Tames Tabb Tigers 

York won its fourth consecutive game of the season Thursday afternoon, defeating Tabb 4-1 at home.

While York earned the victory, Tabb became the first team in four games to score a run against the Falcons.

York (5-1) will continue its season April 12 on the road against Grafton, while Tabb (3-3) will visit Lafayette that same day.

Poquoson Coasts Past Lafayette

Lafayette was unable to hang with Poquoson during a 9-0 road loss Thursday afternoon.

Thursday’s loss marks the third consecutive game the Rams have been held scoreless.
