Christopher Newport University softball pitcher Tara Heatwole, a Jamestown alumna, continued her strong play for the Captains last week.

Heatwole recorded her seventh win of the season, giving her a 7-1 record as a pitcher this season.

Other Historic Triangle athletes had standout performances in baseball and softball.

Baseball

  • George Mason University sophomore Trevor Kelly (York) went 3-for-5 with an RBI during a March 23 win against James Madison University.
  • Williams Peace University junior Tyler Klinedinst (Warhill) went 1-for-4 with 2 RBIs during a March 20 loss to Methodist University.
  • Longwood University junior Brandon Harvell (York) went 2-for-4 with an RBI during a March 22 loss against VCU. He also went 4-for-5 with 2 RBIs during a March 23 win against Radford.
  • Christopher Newport University senior Tommy Vitaletti (Jamestown) went 3-for-6 with an RBI during a March 23 win against Southern Virginia University.
  • Christopher Newport University senior Adam Emerson (Lafayette) recorded his fifth save of the season during a March 23 win against Southern Virginia University.
  • Christopher Newport University senior Blake Ream (Grafton) earned his third win of the season during a March 23 game against Southern Virginia University. Ream struck out 11 batters while allowing three hits and three earned runs.

Softball

  • Elon University sophomore Hannah Olson (Grafton) went 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs during a March 26 win against Drexel.
  • Christopher Newport University sophomore Lia Batchelor (York) went 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs during a March 26 win against Salisbury.
  • University of Mary Washington sophomore Hannah Hautz (York) went 2-for-3 with an RBI during a March 26 loss to Wesley. She also went 4-for-5 with 2 RBIs during a March 26 win to Wesley.
  • Christopher Newport University junior Tara Heatwole (Jamestown) earned her seventh win of the season, allowing one earned run during a March 21 win against Roanoke College.
  • Lynchburg College junior Kayla St. John (Tabb) went 3-for-5 with 3 RBIs during a March 23 win against Randolph College. She also went 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs during a March 23 win against Randolph College in the second game of a doubleheader.
  • Randolph College junior Hannah Winfree (York) earned her third win of the season, allowing three runs in 2 1/3 innings of work during a March 23 game against Emory & Henry.
