The Yorktown Beach picnic area, located at the intersection of Comte de Grasse and Water streets, will reopen for the season Friday.

The 10-acre grass picnic area is joined by a 2-acre beachfront and fishing pier with opportunities for boating, swimming and fishing.

A public restroom and shower facility is located next to the dock master’s office and open April through October.

The fishing pier is open year-round, and there is no license required to fish from the pier.

The beach area can be requested for wedding ceremonies. The National Park Service beach picnic area can be requested for company outings, picnics, family reunions and other approved uses for a fee and must fill out a permit request.
