Jamestown’s defense shut down Warhill during a 9-1 win at home Friday evening behind strong pitching from Ryan Devine, who threw 6 1/3 innings, allowing three hits and one earned run.

After a scoreless first inning, the Eagles scored their first run of the game in the bottom of the second inning as Josh Nellis smacked a single to left field and drove home Garrick Colorado.

The Eagles tacked on four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 5-0 lead over the Lions.

Another run in the bottom of the fifth inning and three more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning essentially put the game out of reach for the Lions, who scored their lone run in the top of the seventh inning.

Jamestown (3-1) will host Hickory on Tuesday, while Warhill (0-4) will look for its first win of the season Tuesday at home against Poquoson.
