Girls Soccer Roundup: Van Dyke Scores Twice for York in Win Over Kecoughtan

York scored a 4-1 victory against Kecoughtan during Tuesday’s first-round game of the Christine Garvey Memorial Tournament.

Madison Van Dyke, a Longwood University commit, scored a pair of goals for the Falcons. Moira Thomson and Miriah Colon each added goals for York.

After a slow start, York recorded back-to-back goals to take a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.

While Kecoughtan scored a goal in the second half, York added two more goals in the second half to secure the comfortable victory.

Falcons goalkeeper Trinity Choice recorded four saves during the win.

York (1-0) will play Gloucester on Wednesday in another Christine Garvey Memorial Tournament match.

Doherty Scores Four Goals to Lead Warhill Past NSA

Warhill’s girls soccer team opened its season with a 4-2 win against Nansemond-Suffolk Academy on Tuesday.

Leading the way for Warhill was Shaye Doherty, who posted all four of Warhill’s goals in the win.

Warhill (1-0) will face a quick turnaround as the Lions prepare to take on Tabb on Wednesday.
