BrutonBruton opened its season with a 6-3 win at home against Walsingham Academy on Monday.

The Panthers split the singles gamesĀ 3-3 with Walsingham, with Bruton winning the first three matches and the Trojans winning the final three.

With the match tied headed into doubles, Bruton came out on top after sweeping all three games.

Bruton (1-0) will hit the road to play Maggie Walker on Thursday, while Walsingham (0-1) will travel to play New Kent next Monday.

Lafayette Sweeps Lakeland

Lafayette’s season opened on a high note, defeating Lakeland 9-0 on the road Monday afternoon.

Every Lafayette singles player swept their opponent except Jacob Eck, who rebounded to win the final two sets after dropping the opening.

The Rams had no issue sweeping doubles, with the closest match decided by four games.

Lafayette (1-0) will now prepare to host New Kent next Thursday.
