Girls Soccer: Melina Gharbo Leads HRA Over Peninsula Catholic with Hat Trick

NavigatorsHampton Roads Academy started its season on a high note, defeating Peninsula Catholic 6-0 at home Thursday.

Leading the way for the Navigators was Melina Gharbo, who opened her season with a hat trick. Leigha Arcand added two goals, while Kayla Rutherford chipped in one of her own.

The Navigators jumped out to a 2-0 lead over Peninsula Catholic in the first half before blowing the game open in the second half.

Sophie Kingsbury helped HRA secure the shutout victory in net, turning away four shots.

HRA (1-0) will look to continue its winning ways Tuesday when the Navigators take the field again.
