After receiving NASCAR’s Young Racer Award in February, York High freshman and local racing phenom Macy Causey was featured in the March 7 issue of Sports Illustrated within the magazine’s Faces In The Crowd feature.
Faces In The Crowd is a regular feature in Sports Illustrated that has highlighted amateur athletes and their accomplishments for about 60 years.
“Macy, a freshman at York High, won NASCAR’s Young Racer Award in Daytona after a 2015 late-model stock car racing season that included four top 10 finishes and a fourth place at Langley Speedway, where she earned the track’s rookie of the year title,” Causey’s bio in Sports Illustrated read. “Macy’s grandmother Diane Teel was the first woman to win a NASCAR sanctioned race.”
Causey’s inclusion in Faces In The Crowd makes her one of more than 15,000 athletes to have been featured in the feature. Other notable athletes recognized include the likes of Jack Nicklaus, Arthur Ashe, Emmitt Smith and Tiger Woods.
The issue of Sports Illustrated featuring Macy Causey is available for purchase wherever the magazine is sold. A digital version of the article is not yet available.
