Busch Gardens Williamsburg has announced David Cromwell, the current vice president of Aquatica San Diego, will take over as park president of both Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Water Country USA as of April 1.

The news of Cromwell’s selection for the position comes just weeks after previous park president Carl Lum’s departure for SeaWorld San Antonio.

Cromwell attended San Diego State University where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in communications with a minor in political science. He went on to earn a master’s degree in business administration, also from San Diego State.

Cromwell began his career with SeaWorld – the Busch Gardens and Water Country USA’s parent company – in 1997 at SeaWorld San Diego.

Since that time, Cromwell has led teams in a variety of positions across the company. In 2006, he became SeaWorld San Diego’s Director of Park Operations, and two years later he was promoted within the park to vice president of park operations.

Cromwell also has familiarity with Water Country USA from his two year stint as vice president at that park from 2010 to 2012.

Cromwell is a member of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions and the World Waterpark Association.
