Vera G. Speake, 94, passed away quietly on Thursday, February 25, 2016, at Patriots Colony of Williamsburg, where she had been a resident since 2007.

She is survived by daughter, Sharon Hall, and husband, Warren, of Williamsburg; son Jake Claypool, and wife, Betty, of Chatsworth, Ga.; son, Bryon Claypool, and wife, Jenny, of Riverside, Calif.; and 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Her family wishes to thank the medical, nursing and aide staffs of Patriots Colony, the Riverside hospice personnel, and the private-duty teams, with special gratitude to Ms. Ruth Ellinger, who provided professional and compassionate care as Vera journeyed through the various stages of Alzheimer’s.

A private memorial will be held at a later date in her hometown of Chaffee, Mo.
