The Greater Williamsburg Chamber & Tourism Alliance recently honored Yankee Candle Village’s Terry Banez for her 10 years of service to both the Alliance and the community.

Banez, who served as Yankee Candle’s director of sales and operations until September, was honored with a proclamation highlighting her achievements at the February meeting of the Alliance’s Board of Directors.

“The Alliance Board of Directors wanted to honor Terry Banez for her exemplary achievements, outstanding service, and selfless dedication to the Williamsburg area during her leadership as a member of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee,” a recent news release from the Alliance read.

Banez served as treasurer of the Alliance from October 2013 to September 2015.

During her 10 years with Yankee Candle Village, the company’s flagship store located on Richmond Road, Banez has “been an advocate for the tourism and retail community,” the release went on to say.

Highlights of Banez’s relationship with the Alliance have included Yankee Candle’s gold level sponsorship of Williamsburg’s annual Christmas parade and the inclusion of Yankee Candle during the filming of Fireball Run in the Historic Triangle last fall.

“Her tenure has earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues, peers and the community at large and the Alliance is proud to honor her with this proclamation,” the release said.
