Williamsburg Christian Academy took down Atlantic Shores Christian 70-50 to claim the Metro Conference championship Saturday.
Led by Armani Franklin’s 27 points, Williamsburg Christian Academy was able to jump out to an early lead against Atlantic Shores and never looked back.
The Eagles held an 18-15 lead over Atlantic Shores after the first quarter, but ballooned their lead in the second quarter behind a strong stretch of play from Franklin, who scored 10 points in the quarter.
By halftime WCA’s lead grew to 35-25 over Atlantic Shores.
The game unraveled for Atlantic Shores in the third quarter, as WCA began attacking the paint and drew numerous free throw attempts. With the Eagles consistent at the foul line, they were able to take the third quarter by a margin of 23-12 to put the game out of reach.
With the game well in hand, the Eagles were able to coast through the fourth quarter to take home their conference title.
WCA (16-4) will now await its opponent in next week’s Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association tournament.
