Eight Historic Triangle girls basketball players earned All-Conference 18 honors this week, with four being named first-team selections.

Jamestown’s Jamiyah Johnson finished behind only Smithfield senior Shannen Atkinson for Conference 18 Player of the Year.

Johnson averaged a double-double for Jamestown this season, scoring 19.2 points per game and pulling down 17 rebounds per game.

“She’s the person we rely on. She was last year, and she was this year, too. I expect big things from her next year,” Jamestown Coach Mary Glisan said. “She’s the sweetest kid off the court, but I would not want to play against her on the court. She is one tough player.”

Also earning first-team honors were Grafton’s Haley Cunningham and Lafayette’s Rachel Lia and Kenya Holiday.

Grafton senior Mikaela Swann was named a second-team selection, while three Jamestown players – Olivia Peterson, Leondra Graves and Corynthian Williams – also earned second-team honors.
