Cornelius R. “Casey” Edlow Jr., was called home for eternal rest on Saturday, February 13, 2016, in Newport News Nursing & Rehab Center.
His life’s journey began on February 9, 1943, the son of Virginia Toliver Edlow and the late Cornelius Edlow Sr.
At an early age, he accepted Christ as his Personal Savior and joined Colossian Baptist Church. Later in life, he joined hands in fellowship with Rising Sun Baptist Church. He was educated in the Newport News Public Schools. He was employed for many years as an auto mechanic. “Casey” was an avid Washington Redskins fan, and he proudly collected and displayed all of his memorabilia. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Nancie Edlow; his sons, James Edlow (Anita) and Kelvin Jones (Turron); his daughter, Kelly Jones; his 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; his mother, Virginia T. Edlow; his aunt, Elsie Edlow; and a host of other loving relatives and many caring friends.
Mr. Edlow may be viewed 5 to 7 p.m Friday at Whiting’s Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 20, in Rising Sun Baptist Church, Lackey, with the Rev. David O. Spratley officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at the church by 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
