Christopher Newport University’s Marcus Carter, a Bruton alumnus, put up a big double-double of 27 points and 10 rebounds against York (Pa.) last week.

Elsewhere, Historic Triangle alumni had standout performances in men’s basketball, women’s basketball and baseball, which began for Division III schools.

  • Christopher Newport University senior Tommy Vitaletti (Jamestown) went 3-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored during a Feb. 11 win against Hampden-Sydney.
  • Christopher Newport University senior Adam Emerson (Lafayette) struck out two batters in one inning of work during a Feb. 11 win against Hampden-Sydney.
  • Ferrum College junior Lane Deaver (Grafton) went 2-for-5 from the plate, driving in two runs during a Feb. 12 win against Southern Virginia University.

Men’s Basketball

  • Christopher Newport University sophomore Marcus Carter (Bruton) scored 15 points during a Feb. 10 win against Mary Washington. He also posted a game-high 27 points and 10 rebounds during a Feb. 13 win against York (Pa.).
  • Roanoke College sophomore Joey Miller (Grafton) scored 19 points and pulled down eight rebounds during a Feb. 10 win against Washington & Lee.
  • Roanoke College junior John Fitchett (Lafayette) scored 14 points during a Feb. 10 win against Washington & Lee. Fitchett also scored 16 points during a Feb. 13 win against Bridgewater.
  • Virginia State University junior Elijah Moore (Grafton) scored 12 points and had seven rebounds during a Feb. 8 win against Elizabeth City State. He also scored 15 points during a Feb. 10 win against Chowan University.
  • Louisiana State University senior Keith Hornsby (Oak Hill Academy) scored 14 points during a Feb. 10 loss against South Carolina. Hornsby also scored 15 points during a Feb. 13 upset of No. 15 Texas A&M.
