Five Historic Triangle wrestlers earned spots in the Group 4A Wrestling Tournament over the weekend during the Group 4A East Regional Tournament held at Churchland High School.
Grafton finished the tournament seventh with 96.5 points, while Lafayette took 11th place with 69.5 points. Jamestown ended the tournament in 21st place with 17 points.
Allen Blaha of Grafton earned the only first-place finish among Historic Triangle wrestlers, taking home the win at 220 pounds.
The Clippers earned a third-place finish from Aaron Daugherty at 145 pounds, while Zach Leherr snagged a spot in the state tournament as an alternate at 160 pounds.
Lafayette’s Griffin Hurt earned a spot in the state tournament at 160 pounds after a third place finish on Sunday.
Jamestown’s Travis Heatwole placed fifth at the 182 pound weight class, advancing to the state tournament as an alternate.
The Group 4A Wrestling Tournament will be held next Friday and Saturday at the Salem Civic Center.
