Historic Triangle runners from Tabb, Lafayette and Jamestown put on stellar performances during the Virginia Tech Premier High School Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
The standout performance of the day came from Tabb’s Maya Hanks, who not only took first place in the girls triple jump with a jump of 38-10 3/4, but also surpassed the New Balance Nationals Indoor qualifying standard of 37-8.
Hanks’ teammate Lindsey Blanks also had a successful performance in the 1,600-meter run, placing third with a time of 5:03.44.
Tabb’s final standout was Allen Blair, who placed third in the boys long jump with a jump of 22-0 1/2. Jamestown’s Jordan Willis took seventh in the long jump after leaping 21-9 1/2.
Lafayette got big individual performance from Michael Tyler in the high jump and Konrad Steck in the 1,600-meter run.
Tyler placed third in the high jump after clearing 6-4, while Steck finished fourth in the 1,600-meter run in a time of 4:18.84.
Grafton’s boys 4×800-meter relay team of Dylan Lorio-MacNamara, Dylan Comer, Brandon Tackling and Miles Owens placed fifth in a time of 8:15.65.
Owens would later place sixth in the boys 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:33.99.
