Williamsburg Christian Academy’s boys basketball team sits atop the third Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association’s Division III weekly rankings that were released Tuesday.
The Eagles, who currently sport a 15-4 record, received 120 votes in the latest poll. This is the third consecutive week WCA has sat in first place in the VISAA Division III polls, each time receiving 120 votes.
WCA, led by leading scorers Xavier Green and Cle’von Greene, has posted a better record this season through 19 games than last season, when the Eagles had a 13-6 record at the same point in the year.
In VISAA’s Division II rankings, Walsingham Academy dropped to fifth place from fourth place last week. The Trojans received 77 votes, which is the same amount of votes they received last week.
Walsingham Academy went through a tough stretch toward the end of December and beginning of January, during which the Trojans lost three consecutive games. Since then, Walsingham has gone 4-0 and now sits with a 14-4 record on the season.
Hampton Roads Academy, who has an 8-6 record on the season, is also receiving votes in VISAA’s Division II. The Navigators are ranked 13th in Division II and have won five consecutive games since Jan. 8.
