Last week proved a busy one for Historic Triangle basketball players and swimmers.

Williamsburg Christian Academy alumnus Jake Duncan had back-to-back big games for Hampden-Sydney, including 12 points during an upset over Roanoke College.

Men’s Basketball

  • Christopher Newport University sophomore Marcus Carter (Bruton) scored 19 points and pulled down nine rebounds during a Jan. 13 win against Mary Washington. He also scored 15 points during a Jan. 16 win against York College.
  • Roanoke College sophomore Joey Miller (Grafton) scored 10 points during a Jan. 16 win against Randolph-Macon.
  • Roanoke College junior John Fitchett (Lafayette) scored 17 points during a Jan. 13 loss against Hampden-Sydney. He also scored 11 points during a Jan. 16 win against Randolph-Macon.
  • Virginia State University sophomore Elijah Moore (Grafton) logged 13 points during a Jan. 12 win against Johnson C. Smith.
  • Hampden-Sydney junior Jake Duncan (Williamsburg Christian Academy) scored 12 points during a Jan. 13 win against Roanoke College. He also added a game-high 28 points during a Jan. 16 win against Washington & Lee.
  • Hampden-Sydney senior Mitch Owens (Walsingham Academy) scored 11 points during a Jan. 16 win against Washington & Lee.
  • Louisiana State University senior Keith Hornsby (Oak Hill Academy) scored 10 points during a Jan. 13 win against Ole Miss.

Swim

  • University of Virginia freshman Peyton Baldwin (Hampton Roads Academy) finished third in the 200-yard butterfly during a Jan. 16 tri-meet against Towson and Virginia Tech. She also placed fifth in the 100-yard butterfly and contributed to a fifth-place 400-yard medley relay team.
  • Virginia Tech freshman Carter Kale (Lafayette) placed sixth in the 200-yard butterfly during a Jan. 16 tri-meet against Towson and the University of Virginia. Kale also finished sixth in the 400-yard individual medley.
  • James Madison University junior Mary Elizabeth Warhol (York) finished first in the 100-yard backstroke during a Jan. 16 dual-meet against Richmond. She also contributed to a first-place 400-yard medley relay team.
  • William & Mary freshman Joey Rento (Hampton Roads Academy) placed third in the 200-yard backstroke during a Jan. 16 dual-meet against Davidson College. He also contributed to a fourth-place 200-yard medley relay and finished sixth in the 200-yard freestyle.
  • William & Mary junior Allie Christy (Bruton) placed first in the 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard backstroke during a Jan. 16 dual-meet against Davidson College. She also contributed to a third-place 200-yard medley relay.
  • Mary Washington junior Lauren Wood (Jamestown) contributed to a first-place 200-yard medley relay during a Jan. 15 dual-meet against St. Mary’s College of Maryland. She also placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke and third in the 200-yard freestyle.
  • Mary Washington senior Nate Hartt (Jamestown) contributed to a first-place 200-yard medley relay during a Jan. 15 dual-meet against St. Mary’s College of Maryland. He also placed second in the 100-yard butterfly and third in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
