Girls Basketball Roundup: WCA, HRA Girls Earn Victories

Williamsburg Christian Academy earned a comfortable 59-20 win against Alliance Christian at home Friday night.

Led by Patricia Davie and Kaylee Boger, each of whom scored 20 points, Williamsburg Christian Academy surpassed Alliance Christian’s total points after one quarter.

The Eagles outpaced Alliance Christian 24-2 in the first quarter and 16-4 in the second quarter. WCA held a 40-6 halftime lead over Alliance Christian.

Alliance Christian continued to struggle containing WCA in the second half as the Eagles outscored Alliance Christian by seven points over the final two quarters despite having reserve players in the game.

WCA (8-2) will face a quick turnaround when the Eagles travel to play Miller School on Saturday.

HRA Cruises Past Christchurch

Leigha Arcand scored a game-high 14 points to lead Hampton Roads Academy to a 35-15 road win against Christchurch on Friday.

After a low-scoring first quarter in which HRA outscored Christchurch 6-1, the Navigators pulled away in the second quarter by outscoring Christchurch 12-4 and taking a 18-5 halftime lead.

The Navigators continued pulling away in the second half, outscoring Christchurch 17-10 over the final two quarters of play.

HRA (3-3) has now won three of its last four games and will travel to play Nansemond-Suffolk Academy on Thursday.
