betty lauterbachBetty Lauterbach, 98, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2016 in the company of her loving family members.

Betty was born December 12, 1917 near Philadelphia to Jean and Henry Blaetz, and went on to receive her master’s degree in education from the University of Pennsylvania in 1940. Betty was a remarkable person with a genuine sincerity, honesty and caring that was apparent to others and brought out the best in them.

Betty married Allen Lauterbach in June 1941, a marriage lasting 61 years until his passing. They raised a daughter Jean (Married to Dr. Allen Meyer) of Seaford; a son Allen (married to Suzanne) of Illinois.

Peninsula residents since 1982, they loved to be with their six grandchildren, (Todd, Scott, Chris, Sarah, Laura and Lisa) and nine great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 13 at Grace Episcopal Church in Yorktown with Rev. Carleton Bakkum and Betty’s grandson Pastor Todd Meyer officiating.

Burial will follow in Grace Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a reception in the church following the service.
