In a week highlighted by men’s basketball performances, Marcus Carter strung together three double-digit scoring performances for Christopher Newport University, including a double-double.

Other Historic Triangle alumni had standout performances in men’s and women’s basketball.

Men’s Basketball

  • Christopher Newport sophomore Marcus Carter (Bruton) had a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds during a Dec. 29 win against Shenandoah. Carter also scored 10 points during a Dec. 30 loss to Scranton and 21 points during a Jan. 2 win against Southern Virginia.
  • Roanoke College sophomore Joey Miller (Grafton) scored 22 points during a Jan. 2 win against Kenyon. He also scored 12 points during a Jan. 3 win against McDaniel.
  • Roanoke College junior John Fitchett (Lafayette) had 12 points during a Jan. 2 win against Kenyon.
  • Hampden-Sydney senior Mitch Owens (Walsingham) scored 10 points and had six rebounds during a Dec. 29 win against Birmingham Southern.
  • Hampden-Sydney junior Jake Duncan (Williamsburg Christian Academy) scored eight points and added eight rebounds during a Jan. 2 win against Rosemont.
  • Louisiana State University senior Keith Hornsby (Oak Hill Academy) logged 13 points during a Dec. 29 loss to Wake Forest. He was also instrumental in a Jan. 2 win against Vanderbilt, scoring 23 points.

Women’s Basketball

  • Randolph College sophomore Alexis Calloway (Bruton) scored six points and had 11 rebounds during a Jan. 2 win against Mary Baldwin.
