Jamiyah Johnson scored 17 points and pulled down 23 rebounds to lead Jamestown to a 58-49 victory against Dinwiddie in the Battle in the Birdcage at Hanover High School on Tuesday.

After a slow first quarter, Jamestown picked up its scoring pace in the second quarter behind Johnson, who repeatedly attacked the paint and drew free throw attempts.

The Eagles attempted 14 free throws in the second quarter and carried a 26-16 lead into halftime.

Jamestown continued attacking the paint in the second half, but was matched by Dinwiddie step for step. Despite Johnson’s dominance, Dinwiddie was able to play even with Jamestown in the second half.

The Eagles were able to keep their distance from Dinwiddie, holding on for the nine-point win.
