The Tabb Tigers played smothering defense during a 69-32 win against Lancaster on Saturday evening in the Joe Ellis Holiday Tournament at Surry County.
No one player took over the game for Tabb during the victory, instead spreading the ball around to nearly every varsity player, and even three junior varsity players who were called up specifically for the game.
It was clear by the end of the first quarter Tabb was the dominant team, as the Tigers held a commanding 13-point advantage. The second quarter was more of the same as Tabb cruised to a 35-15 halftime lead over Lancaster.
With the game becoming lopsided in the second half, Tabb Coach Jason Clarke began subbing his reserve players into the game, all while still extending Tabb’s advantage.
By the time the final buzzer sounded, Tabb had earned a commanding 37-point win. Leading the way for Tabb was Brianna Harper with 14 points. Imani McDowell-Jarmon had 12 points and Madison Clemons added 10 points in the win.
Tabb (9-1) will continue tournament play Monday against an opponent yet to be determined.
