The Warhill volleyball team received formal recognition last week for winning its second consecutive Group 3A state volleyball championship.
Last Tuesday, in front of the Williamsburg-James City County School Board, family and friends, the Lions were called to stand with some of the most influential people in the WJCC educational system to honor their win over Hidden Valley in straight sets for the Group 3A state title.
Present at the ceremony were two-time state champions Cori Clifton, Nicole Mulligan, Gabriela Santana, Alis Ripchick, Jewel Walters and Hanna Cormier.
Additionally, first-time state champions Chloe Wilmoth, Alexis Pollard, Jenessa Hackney, Olivia Rhoden, Samantha Lambert, Ayanna Etter, Anna Tuftee, Allison Faber and Warhill Coach Greg Koon — the Group 3A Coach of the Year — were also present.
Of those present at the ceremony, four — Mulligan, Wilmoth, Walters and Clifton — went on to earn first-team All-State recognition.
