Wrestling: York, Grafton Place Top-10 in Churchland Invitational

York high falcons logoYork’s wrestling team took seventh place during the Mounie Craney Invitational at Churchland High School on Friday and Saturday, while Grafton finished right behind in eighth place.

The Falcons had five wrestlers score spots on the podium in their respective weight classes, with the best showing coming from Luke Grubbs at 126 pounds. Grubbs made it to the final bout before losing, taking second place overall.

Four other York wrestlers took home fourth-place finishes. Mason Bambini finished fourth at 120 pounds, Michael Cawley at 170 pounds, Xedrix Barbeybo at 182 pounds and Nick Grubbs at 220 pounds.

Grafton’s Allen Blaha earned a third-place finish at 220 pounds, while three other Clippers — Braxton Fell at 145 pounds, Zach Leherr at 152 pounds and Julian Miller at 285 pounds — finished fourth.

Aaron Daugherty finished fifth at 160 pounds, and Luke Armstrong took fifth at 170 pounds for Grafton.

Lafayette also competed in the tournament, but has not yet reported its scores.
