Yorktown Market Days is finishing out its ninth season with a special holiday market and parade Saturday.
The market, which will kick off on Riverwalk Landing at 9 a.m., will include 40 vendors selling all the fresh produce, seafood, meats and dairy products that shoppers have come to expect, in addition to specialty items like crab cakes, dips, sweets, baked goods, preserves, candles and artwork.
While perusing the market’s wares, shoppers can also take in various types of entertainment scheduled throughout the day, including musical performances, artist demonstrations and sugar plum cooking demonstrations at Carrot Tree at 10:30 a.m. and noon.
The highlight of the day’s festivities is the Toyland Parade, which will begin its procession down Riverwalk Landing at 1:30 p.m. Led by Santa, Mrs. Claus and the Fifes and Drums of Yorktown, this holiday tradition is returning for its eighth year.
Families are encouraged to put on their most festive holiday sweaters, deck out their strollers or wagons and even put their four-legged friends in a holiday costume and join in the parade. The parade will form and begin on the grass by the Riverwalk fountain.
Both before and after the parade, families can also participate in fun activities such as colonial games, caroling, dancing, arts and crafts and visiting with Santa.
The market will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The parade and its accompanying festivities will run from 1 to 3 p.m. All events are free and open to the public.
