Madison Clemons and Tamia Smith each scored 13 points during Tabb’s 57-38 home victory against Grafton on Tuesday evening.

Tabb and Grafton went back and forth for four quarters during an intense rivalry game.

The big matchup in the game came between Smith and Grafton’s Haley Cunningham. The two players went head-to-head throughout the game, and while Cunningham scored 14 points in the first half, the Tigers defense was able to slow her down for seven points in the second half.

Tabb excelled behind the 3-point line against the Clippers, draining eight 3-pointers with three coming from Clemons and Smith each.

With Tabb leading 33-22 at halftime, the Tigers were able to slowly extend their lead in the second half for a comfortable victory.

Tabb (4-0) will continue its season on the road against Bruton on Thursday. Meanwhile, Grafton (1-2) will visit New Kent on Thursday.

Walsingham Falls to St. Margaret’s

Emily Mauk’s game-high 17 points weren’t enough for Walsingham Academy to upend St. Margaret’s during a 48-34 loss on the road Tuesday.

Walsingham fell behind in the first quarter, but watched St. Margaret’s pull away in the second quarter. By halftime, the Trojans trailed by 13 points.

The second half was more competitive for Walsingham, but the first-half deficit was too much to overcome during the loss.

Walsingham (1-3) will continue its season at home against Atlantic Shores on Monday.

Jamestown Routs Lafayette

Jamestown’s girls basketball team handed Lafayette its third consecutive loss of the season during a 61-43 victory on the road Tuesday night.

Led by Jamiyah Johnson, Jamestown was able to outmuscle Lafayette and hold Rachel Lia in check.

The Eagles led 36-24 at halftime and extended their lead in the second half.

Jamestown (2-2) will travel to take on Warhill on Thursday, while Lafayette (1-3) will visit York on Thursday.

Bruton Routs New Kent

The Bruton girls basketball team hit the road and earned a commanding 58-29 win against New Kent on Tuesday.

Bruton doubled up  New Kent’s score, while also posting its best defensive performance of the night. Bruton’s previous best performance came against Poquoson when the Panthers allowed 39 points.

The Panthers (4-0) will host Tabb on Thursday in an attempt to remain perfect on the season.

York Struggles to Keep Pace with Poquoson

York was unable to keep pace with Poquoson during a 61-34 loss on the road Tuesday.

The Falcons struggled to find consistent offense, while Poquoson was able to navigate through the York defense with ease.

York (1-2) has now lost back-to-back games and will look to rebound at home against Lafayette on Thursday.
