Bettie L. Davis, 83, passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2015.

After high school, Bettie began her career with C&P Telephone (Bell Atlantic) which spanned more than 34 years. She was a member of Woodmen of the World and York Lions Club. She was also a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Yorktown.

Bettie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, A.P. Davis; parents Jimmie and Nannie Lawson and sisters, Alice Howell and Barbara Ripchick.

She is survived by sisters, Margaret Mills and Edna Carter; a brother Clarence Lawson (Grace); numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, at Amory Funeral Home, Grafton with Rev. Doug Gestwick officiating. Interment will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 113 Old Dare Road, Yorktown, VA, 23692.
