Betty Slater Cooke, 82, went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 27, 2015.
She was born October 20, 1933 in James City County and was a graduate of Toano High School, a past employee of Colonial Williamsburg and the church secretary of Liberty Baptist Church in Lanexa for 22 years, where she was also a lifelong member.
Betty loved working outdoors, cooking, canning, and decorating for Christmas, but her fondest love was for her family.
Survivors include her loving and devoted husband of 61 years, Howard Garnett Cooke, Jr. of Williamsburg; her sons, Michael (Janet) of Lanexa, and Barry (Donna) of Williamsburg; three grandsons, Dallas (Kelly) of El Paso, TX, Phillip (Sydney) and Tommy, all of Greenville, SC; and great-granddaughters, Elle and Evie. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dallas and Virginia Slater; and her brother, Boyd.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 30 at Liberty Baptist Church, 15810 Liberty Church Rd., Lanexa, VA 23089 with burial following in Williamsburg Memorial Park, 130 King William Dr., Williamsburg, VA 23188.
The family received friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, November 29 at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, VA.
