Jamestown’s Esch Named Group 4A East Volleyball Player of the Year

Fresh off an appearance in the Group 4A state championship match, Jamestown’s volleyball team had four players earn first-team All-Region honors.

Among the four players honored from Jamestown was Maria Esch, who was named Group 4A East Player of the Year. Also earning first-team honors from Jamestown were Ellie Popelka, Emma Schriner and Gen Allison.

Additionally, Jamestown Coach Tom Stephenson was named Group 4A East Coach of the Year after guiding the Eagles to a fifth straight state tournament and a 25-4 record.

Grafton also had two players earn first-team All-Region recognition as senior middle blocker Rachel Blitt and senior setter Kaitlyn Young were named first-team selections for the Clippers.

Grafton’s Samantha Heard, Jamestown’s Maggie Viniard and Lafayette’s Abby Oren were all named second teamers.
