Tidewater Orthopaedics is preparing to move from its current office in New Town after purchasing a 12,227-square-foot building on 4037 Ironbound Road in James City County for $975,000.
Eva Klenner, the CEO of Tidewater Orthopaedics, said the impetus of the move revolved around accessibility and parking issues in New Town, as well as not having enough space to treat customers.
“Parking is a problem in New Town. In orthopedics you have people who can’t walk very far, especially older patients like in Williamsburg,” Klenner said. “[Our current building has] gotten too small, so we are growing and expanding into that [new] building.”
Tidewater Orthopaedics’ new office, which formerly housed Harris Equipment and Rental since 2008, is roughly twice the size of their current office located at 5208 Monticello Avenue, Suite 180.
Klenner said while the building has been purchased, Tidewater Orthopaedics is still almost a year away from being able to move to the new location. Klenner hopes to have the move completed by next fall.
Before Tidewater Orthopaedics can move into the new building, Klenner said the parking lot needs to be torn up and replaced, salt water drainage needs modification and the interior of the building needs to be made more accessible for patients.
“It’s not a small project, but it’s a great location,” Klenner said.
