Locals craving high school hoops will have an opportunity to see five Historic Triangle schools face off in the fifth annual Rotary Invitational Basketball Jamboree over Thanksgiving weekend at Williamsburg Christian Academy.
Four local public schools — Warhill, Lafayette, Jamestown and Bruton — will join Williamsburg Christian Academy, Warwick, Kecoughtan and King William in the tournament, which will feature boys and girls teams from every school.
The tournament, which is sanctioned by the Virginia High School League, provides valuable scrimmage time for teams as they prepare to begin the regular season.
Both boys and girls teams will play eight games each, with the boys playing Nov. 27 and the girls playing Nov. 28. Games begin at 8:30 a.m. both days.
Admission is $5 per day, while sponsorship opportunities are available for $250. Sponsors will receive an advertisement in the tournament program, a logo on commemorative T-shirts and on-site visibility.
Proceeds from the tournament will benefit Rotary Club charities, including Polio Plus and other local charities. The Booster Club of Williamsburg Christian Academy will also be offering concessions with those proceeds going to the booster club.
